Halloween Games on Alexa: 7 Spooky Mini Games for Families
By Josh5 min read
Pumpkins carved? Costumes sorted? Then it's time to get the whole family shouting at the speaker. Mini Games has a whole crypt full of spooky games for Halloween, and all you need to start is "Alexa, open Mini Games".
Here are seven of our favourites for a frightfully fun October, from silly-spooky starters for little ones to proper mysteries for grown-ups.
1. Zombie Racing
Race undead drivers to victory! Pick the zombie you think will win, then cheer (or groan) as they lurch towards the finish line. HUGO.FM calls it "the perfect Alexa skill for Halloween", and it's now part of Mini Games.
2. The Werewolf
There has been a disaster in the village: a werewolf is on the loose! Talk to the Mayor, the Baker, the Butcher and the rest of the villagers, listen to their stories and alibis, and work out who's hiding fur under their collar. It's brilliant with a group, especially if you love The Traitors. Read how to step into the Traitors game yourself.
3. Tutankhamun's Lair
Explore a cursed tomb full of traps. Decode an ancient chant of high and low tones, solve riddles and earn the letters of ANUBIS to wake the jackal-headed god of the dead. Listen carefully: the air is running out! Our full guide: Tutankhamun's Lair: Can You Decode the Chant and Wake a God?
4. Bridge of Doom
Pick the safe tiles to cross the witch's bridge of DOOM! Every step could be your last, so trust your memory, keep your nerve and see how far you can get before you plummet into the abyss.
5. Hotel Detective
A scream rips through a wacky hotel full of strange guests, and only you can find the room it came from. Guess a number between 1 and 50, then let Alexa's clues help you narrow it down. A great one for younger detectives.
6. Potion Class
Brew magic potions and catch the sneaky saboteur in your class! Perfect for a witches-and-wizards party: get everyone guessing who's secretly spoiling the spells.
7. Pet My Monster
Not every monster is scary! In Pet My Monster you raise a monster of your very own, then feed it and play together. Ideal for little ones who'd rather cuddle a monster than run from one.
How to Play
- Say "Alexa, open Mini Games" on any Alexa device or in the Alexa app.
- Pick your team if it's your first time.
- Say "play" and the game's name, for example "play Zombie Racing".
Tips for a Spooky Alexa Games Night
- Set the mood. Dim the lights, light a pumpkin and gather everyone round the speaker.
- Take turns as host. Let a different player give the answers each round so everyone gets a go.
- Play in teams. Split the room into ghouls and goblins and keep score on a piece of paper.
- Mix it up. Start with a quick race or bridge crossing, then finish with a mystery like The Werewolf.
